    Herman D. "Bill" Spang, 84, of 211 Fairground Road, Ford City died Sunday, Sept. 29, 2002 in the Armstrong County Health Center, Kittanning.

    He was born May 15, 1918 in Manor Township to Harry L. and Dora Mae (Schrecengost) Spang.

    Mr. Spang was a truck driver for Gulf Oil Corporation, retiring in 1977 after 29 years.

    An Army veteran, he served during World War II.

    He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Manorville.

    His other memberships included the Masonic Lodge 244 Kittanning, Coudersport Consistory, Lutheran Brotherhood, Ford City Eagles F.O.E. and Ford City American Legion Post 654 for more than 50 years.

    He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family.

    Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Lois (Shumaker) Spang, whom he married June 26, 1940; two sons, Harry D. "Smoke" Spang of Ford City and Richard Spang of Kittanning; one daughter, Mrs. Terry (Janet) Cloak of Templeton; five grandchildren, Tim Spang, Amy Fulton, Eric Spang, Jennifer Wolfe and Allison Kimmel; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Dale Spang of Weedville; and three sisters, Martha Emmonds of Ford Cliff, Ina Shannon of Cabot and Lola Moore of Florida.

    He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Clair, Floy, Perry, Kenneth and Dean Spang; and five sisters, Lucille Klingensmith, Dorothy Lasher, Mildred Jordan, Luella Baker and Alene Kovalovsky.

    SPANG - Friends of Herman D. "Bill" Spang, 84, of 211 Fairground Road, Ford City, who died Sept. 29, 2002, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Welch Funeral Home, 1032 Fourth Ave., Ford City, where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Carl Johnson, pastor of St. Johns Lutheran Church, Kittanning, officiating. Burial will be in Lawn Haven Burial Estates, East Franklin Township.

    Lois G. Spang, 89, of Ford City, died Thursday, November 19, 2009, in Erdley's Personal Care. Born April 8, 1920, in Kittanning, she was a daughter of the late Russell and Edna (Graff) Shumaker. Mrs. Spang was a homemaker. she was a lifelong resident of the area and a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Manorville, the American Legion Auxiliary and Bethel Township Senior Citizens. Mrs. Spang enjoyed camping, cooking, storytelling, listening to country music, singing and spending time with her family. She is survived by two sons, Harry "Smokey" (Linda) Spang, Ford City, and Richard (Linda) Spang, Kittanning; a daughter, Janet Cloak, Templeton; five grandchildren, Tim Spang, Amy Fulton, Eric Spang, Jennifer Wolfe, and Allison Kimmel; and seven great grandchildren, Noah Spang, Liam Spang, Alex Spang, Colleen Fulton, Cami Fulton, Timmy Fulton, and Morgan Kimmel, In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Herman D. Spang, who died September 29, 2002; two brothers, Charles and Harry Shumaker, and three sisters, Vera Schaeffer, Frances Angelo, and Mildred Loree. Friends will be received from 7-9 p.m. Saturday and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday in the Welch Funeral Home, Ford City, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday with the Rev. Mr. Spang was born April 8, 1877 in Bethel Twp., a son of Oliver and Lucetta (Fiscus) Spang. He was a retired carpenter with Pittsburgh Plate Glass Co.     Mrs. Dora (Schrecengost) Spang, 82, of 752 Ross Ave., Ford City died unexpectedly at 7 a.m. today (Thursday, Oct. 28, 1965) in her home. A daughter of Herman and Mary (Hartman) Schrecengost, she was born Feb. 11, 1883 in Kittanning Township. Mrs. Spang was a member of the Rosston Union Chapel. Her husband, Harry Spang, preceded her in death in 1962. Survivors include the following sons and daughters: Floy Spang of Ford City, Mrs. Lucille Klingensmith of Ford City RD 3, Mrs. Raymond (Dorothy) Lasher of McGrann, Mrs. Earl (Ina) Shannon of Freeport, Clair Spang of South Gate, Calif., Mrs. William (Martha) Emmonds of Ford Cliff, Mrs. John (Alene) Kovalovsky of Ford City, Delbert Spang of Ford City RD 1, Mrs. Russell (Lola) Moore of New Castle, Mrs. Gerald (Mildred) Jordon of Kittanning and Dale Spang, at home; 37 grand-children and 51 great-grand-children.
