Jacob married WILES, Carrie Melissa 20 Jan 1887, St Paul's Methodist Episcopal Church, Hagerstown, Washington County, Maryland. Carrie (daughter of WILES, Henry G. and NELSON, Eliza Ann) was born 30 May 1861, Jefferson, Frederick County, Maryland; died 29 Mar 1939, Mount Ranier, Prince George's County, Maryland; was buried Monocacy Cemetery, Beallsville, Montgomery County, Maryland. "Henry G. Wiles died at 8 a. m. today [18 January 1899] at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J. W. Dayhoff, Fairground ave., of paralysis, aged 72 years. He had several paralytic strokes within the past few years. Mr. Wiles returned to Hagerstown two weeks ago from Florence, Ala., where he had been living for several years and had large business interests. He was formerly a member of the firm which operated the Hagerstown Sash Factory and one of the contractors who built the Hotel Hamilton. He was a native of Frederick county.
"He was married three times and is survived by this last wife and the following children: Mrs. J. W. Dayhoff, this city; Mr. Jacob Bodman [Bodmer], Poolesville, Md.; Mr. Jacob Little [Zittle], Omaha, Neb.; Frank, Mineola, Tex.; Charles, Washington; Marion [Marvin], Florence, Ala., and Miss Grace, at home. Funeral Friday [20 January]; services at the house at 10 a. m. by Rev. E. H. Delk; interment in Rose Hill." ("Henry Wiles Dead," Daily Mail [Hagerstown, Maryland], 18 January 1899.)

Henry G. Wiles was married three times. He married first Eliza A. Nelson on 25 February 1856 in Carroll County, Maryland. Their children were Laura Doretta, Elizabeth A., Carrie Melissa, and Jessie Venona. After Eliza's death, he married her sister Melissa, the widow of David Richards, on 15 February 1869 in Frederick County, Maryland. Their children were Franklin Alonzo "Frank," Charles Eugene, and Bertha Oliva. After Melissa's death, he married Mary Elizabeth Cruzen on 23 September 1880 in Loudoun County, Virginia. In 1827, George REMSBURG was appointed trustee to sell the real
estate of Henry HERSHBERGER (HERSPERGER) which he did to James
WILES and Patrick McGILL Sr. for $3,621.75.

Land - "The Title is Good", "new Freedom", "Chestnut Hollow",
109 3/4 acres (50 acres was Patrick McGILL Sr.'s part)

James WILES Jr. d/ 1827 intestate, leaving
widow - Elizabeth and 4 minor children,

Land - Lot #30, on Main Street in New Town (Trap or Jefferson),
from Sebastian RAMSBURG (w/ Elizabeth) in 1818.
- "Children's Chance", 4+ acres, from John NELSON, esquire,
as trustee for John B. HERSBERGER, in 1825 (Hersberger was
mortaged to George RAMSBERG) (land to Hersberger from Edward
ROTELEN Sr. in 1817).
-1/8 share of the estate of Thomas WILES, father of James.
Thomas WILES estate was sold in two parcels by William SCHLEY,
the trustee; James' section was 83 acres; the part sold to
Henry HERSBERGER was 93+ acres.

Administrators were the widow and Michael THOMAS; guardian
was the mother. Trustee was Loyd DORSEY; 1/8 share sold to
Samuel WILES at $595.12; the widow was allowed 2/15 in lieu
for her dower. The lot in New Town was sold to Mrs. Elizabeth
WILES for $500; to Perry HILLIARY for the 4 acres at $90.25.
Proceeds were short, paid $.13 on the dollar; finalized 3 Sep
1835.

James married HERSPERGER, Elizabeth 07 Feb 1815, Evangelical Lutheran Church, Middletown, Frederick County, Maryland. Elizabeth (daughter of HERSPERGER, Henry B. and RAMSBERGH, Catherine) was born 24 Nov 1796, Frederick, Maryland, USA; died 06 Dec 1864, Jefferson, Frederick, Maryland, USA; was buried Jefferson United Methodist Church Cemetery, Jefferson, Frederick County, Maryland.
