    Notes:

    The town of Douglassville, near Pottstown, was named after him, for he lived in Douglass Manor. He also built and ran the White Horse Tavern, which was a stop on the Schuylkill River for travelers to and from Philadelphia. In 1776, in the Revolutionary War, he commanded a company in Lotz's Battalion. A pew in the Valley Forge Memorial Chapel has been given as a memorial to him.     "To be sold by public Vendue, on Thursday the 28th of March inst. at Mayberry Forge, in Philadelphia County, 4 Negroe Men, 2 Negroe BOys, and 2 Negroe Girls, with a considerable Quantity of Household FUrniture, consisting of Beds, Bedding Chest of Drawers, a Desk, Table, &c. also a large Assortment of Kitchen Furniture. At the same Time and Place will be sold several good Milch Cows, two Yoke of Oxen, a Number of Draught Horses, Waggons, Greers, and a large Number of Implements of Husbandry. The Sale to begin at 10 o'clock in the Morning, unless the Day should be rainy, and in the Case on the first fair Day after; at which Time and Place the Conditions of Sale will be made publick.

    All Person having any Demands against the Estate of William Mayberry, deceased, are requested to bring in their Accounts, duly proved, in order that they may be discharged; and such Persons as stand indebted to said Estate, are desired to make immediate Payment thereof, without Delay, or further Notice.
