ARNOLD MAN LEAVES 72 DESCENDANTS - Harvey W. Schrecengost, 83, who is survived by 72 direct descendants, died alone in the home of a daughter in Arnold yesterday.

He was last seen by neighbors at about 10 yesterday morning on the porch of his home, 1538 5th Ave. When a neighbor, Robert Dorbritz, failed to gain entry when he knocked on the door at 6 p.m. he asked Arnold police to investigate.

They found Mr. Schrecengost dead. Westmoreland County Coroner determined that he had died several hours earlier of a heart attack.

His daughter, Mrs. Thomas (Lottie) Hession was on a trip to Rhode Island. Her father had been in good health and neighbors were looking in on him from time to time.

Born in Kittanning Twp., Armstrong County, he was the son of Herman L. and Mary Ann Hartman Schrecengost who owned a farm there.

He was one of the early rural mail delivery men in the Leechburg area and later went to work at Ford City Plant of Pittsburgh Plate Glass Co. After that he became a millwright with Allegheny Ludlum Steel Corp. plant in West Leechburg. He held that position for 25 years until he retired about 15 years ago.

Mr. Schrecengost was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church near Brick Church until recent years and still maintained his membership there.

Surviving are one son, Doyle Schrecengost, Leechburg; four daughters, Mrs. Hession, Mrs. Alven (Lucille) Scott and Mrs. Alfred (Mary) Cline, Leechburg, and Mrs. Louis (Blanch) Hileman, Ford City; 19 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two brothers, William Schrecengost, Vandergrift, and Elmer Schrecengost, Yatesboro, and two sisters, Harry (Dora) Spang, Rosston, Pa., and Mrs. Sarah Humes, Cabot.

SCHRECENGOST - On Friday, October 26, Harvey W. Schrecengost, 83, 1538 Fifth Avenue, Arnold. Friends may call at the Clawson Funeral Home, Corner of Second and Main Streets, Leechburg, after 11 am Sunday. Services will be held Tuesday in the Funeral home at 2 pm with Reverend George C. Vetter, Hebron Lutheran Church of Leechburg, in charge. Burial in Ford City Cemetery.
