- A celebration of life service for Florence P. (Porter) Givens, of Bowling Green, will be held at the First Presbyterian Church. Details of the service will be announced later. There is no visitation. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Bowling Green.
Mrs. Givens, 85, died Tuesday (Dec. 23, 2008) at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo. She served 19 years in the League of Women Voters, and also volunteered for the blood mobile and Wheeled Meals at Wood County Hospital. Mrs. Givens was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where she was an elder and financial secretary. She received her bachelor's degree from Penn State University. Born Dec 14, 1923 in Vincennes, Ind., to Bennet and Beatrice (Hibbard) Porter, she married Stuart Givens in May 1947. He died Aug. 19, 2004.
Surviving are two sons, Willard and Bennet, both of Dublin; a daughter, Martha Sears, Bowling Green; two brothers, Bennet A. Porter, of Hermitage, Tenn., and Ernest R. Porter, Millsboro, Del.; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
