William W. Spang
CAMBRIDGE - William W. Spang, 72, 201 West Madison Street, formerly of Watertown, passed away at his home on Tuesday, September 26, 2000. He was born in Racine on August 25, 1928, the son of William G. and Ethel (nee: Van Wee) Spang. On October 9, 1965 in Galena, Ill., he was united in marriage to Jeanette (nee: Anderson) Backes*, who preceded him in death. Mr. Spang owned and operated various business's in Wisconsin, including Spang's Retreat and the Nite Cap Motel, both in Watertown, until his retirement. He was a member of St. Pius Catholic Church in Cambridge and a former member of St. Henry Catholic Church in Watertown. He was a member of the United States Marine Corps, serving in the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Watertown V.F.W. Post #3709 and the Watertown American Legion Post #189. He was also a member of the Hotel and Motel Association and the Watertown Area Chamber of Commerce. He is survived by two sons, George (Ellen) of Cambridge and Tim (Vicki) of Jefferson; one daughter, Ethel of Racine; one step-daughter, Denise (Daniel) Kuehl of Hustisford; one step-son, Dennis (Jill) Anderson of Hustisford; six grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; two brothers, John (Sandra) of Winter Park, Fla. and Vanny of Racine; and nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jeanette on December 11, 1999; one son, William; and one daughter, Cynthia. Funeral services will be held at the Hafemeister Funeral Home on Friday evening, September 29, 2000, at 8 p.m. with Rev. Bernard Rott of St. Henry Catholic Church officiating. Burial will be held at East Koshkonong Cemetery in the Town of Christina on Saturday morning at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. William Nolan of St. Pius Catholic Church officiating.
