- Mrs. Gloria R. (Benner) (Goodwin) Spang, 85, of Middleton, beloved wife of Frank Joseph Spang, died Wednesday June 30, 2010 at the Blueberry Hill Nursing Home in Beverly, after suffering a stroke in April. Born in the Bronx, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Kenneth M. and Sylvia E. (Koeth) Benner. She was raised and educated in Staten Island, N.Y. and attended Staten Island High School. Mrs. Spang began her professional career as a dance teacher, having taught in New York and the western part of Massachusetts. In the 1970s she brought her talent to Beverly and Danvers opening The Gloria Goodwin School of Dance. Most recently, she choreographed and performed with the North Shore Players and the Peabody Senior Center. She was also a member of the Danvers YMCA for many years. Gloria had a strong love of the theater and dance which she continued throughout her life. In addition to her loving husband, Gloria is survived by a son, Scott Goodwin and his wife Sara of Arizona; her two daughters, Glory Gooding and her husband Hal of Florida and formerly Danvers, and Dawn Johnson and her husband Keith of Vermont; her five grandchildren, Kassidy Goodwin of Arizona, Shawn Lankowski and his wife Kathleen of Danvers, Nicole Walsh and her husband Robert of Walpole, Autumn Rockwell of Kentucky, and Amber Zinn of Vermont; eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Kenneth Benner and the late Lorraine Robertson, both of New York. Gloria also leaves nine step-children: Frank Spang, Pamela Nolan, Mark Spang, Thomas Spang, Lisa Spang, Larry Spang, Stephen Spang, Charlie Spang, and Cecily Gray, all formerly of Winchester. Lastly, Gloria leaves an infinite number of friends with whom she shared so much of her life. ARRANGEMENTS: At Glorias request, there will be no services.
