- Leta M. Spang age 97 of Chilton died on November 30, 2003 at Calumet Medical Center in Chilton. She was born on November 9, 1906 in the Town of Brothertown daughter of the late George & Minnie (Doern) Baker. Leta married Nicholas J. Spang on November 27, 1934 at St. John Catholic Church in St. John. The couple farmed in the town of Woodville for 38 years before retiring in 1972. Leta?s husband of 55 years preceded her in death in September of 1987. She was a member of St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Chilton. She loved gardening, flowers and her home, but she especially loved her children and grandchildren. Survivors include 6 children: Alvin Spang of Chilton, Phyllis (Marvin) Gerhartz of Chilton, Dorothy Spang of Maryville, TN, Judith Spang of Green Bay, Nicholas IV (Rose) Spang of Beaver Dam, Nanetta Penterman of Brillion; 11 grandchildren: Mary Jo (Ron) Roush of Shorewood, IL, Nancy (Larry) Hlinak of Mischicot, Jordan Lavey of St. Paul, MN, Marie (Dan) Golner of Vancouver, WA, Nicholas V (Nicole) Spang of Edgerton, Nathan and Matthew Spang of Appleton, Jason (Zulfiya) Penterman of West Bend, Richard and Aaron Penterman of Brillion, Jon Penterman of Berkeley, CA; 7 great grandchildren: Rhonda & Elizabeth Roush, Kristin, Tim & Megan Hlinak, Mikayla & Nicholas VI Spang. Leta was also preceded in death by a son-in-law: Richard Penterman; her brothers and sisters: Harvey & Theodore Baker and Adeline (Moritz) Goestenkors and Viola (Otto) Stache. Funeral services will be at 12 Noon on Wednesday December 3, 2003 at St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Chilton with the Rev. Gary New S.D.S. officiating. Entombment will be in Knollwood Mausoleum. Friends may call at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton from 10:00 ? 11:30 when family prayers will be held. The family would like to thank the staff at the Chilton Care Center for the care given for the past nine years. Also, a sincere thank you to the staff of the Calumet Medical Center who provided professional and loving care for Mom.
