FORD CITY ? Harry Lewis Spang, 84, of 725 Ross Ave., Ford City, died at 8:45 p.m. yesterday (March 22, 1962) at Armstrong County Memorial Hospital. Mr. Spang was born April 8, 1877 in Bethel Twp., a son of Oliver and Lucetta (Fiscus) Spang. He was a retired carpenter with Pittsburgh Plate Glass Co. Surviving are his widow, Dora (Schrecengost) Spang; four sons, Floy of Ford City, Clair of South Gate, Calif., Delbert of Ford City RD 1, Dale at home; seven daughters, Mrs. Lucille Klingensmith of Ford City RD 3, Mrs. Dorothy Lasher of McGrann, Mrs. Ina Shannon of Freeport, Mrs. Martha Emmonds of Ford Cliff, Mrs. Alene Kovalovsky of Ford City, Mrs. Lola Moore of New Castle and Mrs. Mildred Jordan of Kittanning. Also surviving are a sister, Mrs. Martha Loy of Portland, Ore.; 37 grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren. Friends are being received from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. at Welch funeral home Ford City, where services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be made in St. John's cemetery Shay.

She is survived by two sons, Robert E. Lasher of Kittanning and Thomas R. Lasher of Ford City; three grandchildren, Linda Stapleton, Lisa Lasher and Susan Kijowski; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Herman D. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond E. Martha was born April 4, 1914, in Armstrong County, daughter of the late Harry Spang and Dora (Schrecengost) Spang. Martha was a very active member ot the Appleby Manor United Presbyterian Church, Ford City. She enjoyed gardening, working with flowers, baking, cooking, crocheting and fishing. Martha is survived by two daughters, Patricia (Robert) Helm, of Spring Valley, Calif., and Yvonne (Ronald) Temsik, of Red Feather Lake, Colo.; brother, Dale Spang, of Greenville; two sisters, Ina Shannon, of Sarver, and Lola Mohr, of Florida; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Martha was preceded in death by her husband, William R. Emmonds, who died Jan. 8, 1984; one son, William Edward Emmonds; six brothers, Floyd, Perry, Lewis, Clair, Kenneth and Delbert; and five sisters, Lucille Klingensmith, Dorothy Lasher, Luella Baker, Arlene Kovalovsky and Mildred Jordan. Herman D. "Bill" Spang, 84, of 211 Fairground Road, Ford City died Sunday, Sept. 29, 2002 in the Armstrong County Health Center, Kittanning.
He was born May 15, 1918 in Manor Township to Harry L. and Dora Mae (Schrecengost) Spang.
Mr. Spang was a truck driver for Gulf Oil Corporation, retiring in 1977 after 29 years.
An Army veteran, he served during World War II.
He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Manorville.
His other memberships included the Masonic Lodge 244 Kittanning, Coudersport Consistory, Lutheran Brotherhood, Ford City Eagles F.O.E. and Ford City American Legion Post 654 for more than 50 years.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Lois (Shumaker) Spang, whom he married June 26, 1940; two sons, Harry D. "Smoke" Spang of Ford City and Richard Spang of Kittanning; one daughter, Mrs. Terry (Janet) Cloak of Templeton; five grandchildren, Tim Spang, Amy Fulton, Eric Spang, Jennifer Wolfe and Allison Kimmel; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Dale Spang of Weedville; and three sisters, Martha Emmonds of Ford Cliff, Ina Shannon of Cabot and Lola Moore of Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Clair, Floy, Perry, Kenneth and Dean Spang; and five sisters, Lucille Klingensmith, Dorothy Lasher, Mildred Jordan, Luella Baker and Alene Kovalovsky.

Russell L. Spang, 81, formerly of Manor Township, died Wednesday, July 28, 2010, in the Kittanning Care Center. He was born May 10, 1929, in Manorville, a son of Floy R. and Vera (Baker) Spang.
Mr. Spang was a truck driver and drove for O.K. Heilman Trucking and then Preston Trucking, from where he retired. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving with the Army. He was a member of the Ford City American Legion. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, watching Western movies and sports of all kinds, working around his house and cutting his grass.
Surviving are one daughter, Carol (John) Myers-Griffiths, of Erie; one son, Jeffrey (Sherri) Spang, of Ford Cliff; two sisters, Helen Sapp, of Enterprise, Ala., and Leona James Kearns, of Pittsburgh; four grandsons, Jeffrey J. (Kiera) Sprang II, Brian J. Spang, Eric Myers and Evan Myers; four great-grandchildren; and four stepgreat-grandchildren.
Russell was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Freda (Fennell) Spang, who died in 1983; one sister, Phyllis Romutis; and one infant brother, Floy Spang. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in WELCH FUNERAL HOME, Ford City, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday with Pastor Lloyd Riggle officiating. Interment will follow in the Ford City Cemetery, Manor Township.

Thomas Ray Lasher, 66, of Ford City died Wednesday, June 29, 2005 at his home. He was born Sept. 6, 1938 in McGrann to Raymond E. and Dorothy M. (Spang) Lasher. Mr. Lasher was a manager at Mr. Tile, retiring after 40 years of service in 2000. He was a member of New Life Center Assembly of God in Ford City. He was also a member of the National Rifle Association, an associate member of Ford City Veterans of Foreign Wars, and a previous member of Manor Lions Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf, loved train trips with Bill Nall and was an avid NASCAR fan. He spent his winters in Florida. Survivors include his wife, Carrie "Annette" Lasher; his daughter, Lisa J. Kenneth E. Spang, U.S. Air Force Retired, born January 21, 1931, passed away November 20, 2006, at the age of 75. He was preceded in death by his wife, Aurelia R. Spang; and sons, Richard Lopez and Jesse Guerrero. Survivors include his children and their spouses, Susan and Mike Cunningham, Nita and David Salisbury, Ken and Paula Spang, Shirlee and Michael Filoteo and Armando Reyes; grandchildren, Clint, Christopher, Corinne, Shanon, David, Michael Jr., Dustin, Richard, Bonnie, Kenneth, Nicole and Megan; great-grandchildren, Ashton, Breydon, Damien, Dominick, Monty and Christalena; siblings, Diane Gardell, William Rush, III, Marian Mantyla and Michelle Bochette. Mr. Spang proudly served our country in the U.S. Air Force for 22 years. He received the Airman's Medal Award for Bravery. He was a Korean and Vietnam War Veteran.
