    Age 76. Passed away Nov. 22 in St. Mary's Hospital. Mrs. Spang was born in Caledonia, Wis. on Aug. 29, 1880. She was a member of St. Louis Church, Caledonia. Surviving are three sons, William of Racine, Robert of Franksville and John of Strawberry Point, IA; two daughters, Mrs. C. F. Dunn of Milwaukee and Mrs. William Cain of Bermuda; 21 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Barbara Haas of Racine. Funeral services will be help Monday, 9 a.m., in the Maresh Funeral Home and 10 a.m. in St. Louis Church, Caledonia, Rev. Alphonse Wissink officiating. Interment will be in St. Louis Cemetery. Friends may call the the MARESH FUNERAL HOME, South Main at Eighth St., Sunday afternoon after 2 o'clock. The Rosary will be recited Sunday evening, 8 o'clock, in the funeral home.

    Cain, Eileen Jean 92 04/04/1918 12/21/2010 Eileen Jean Cain was born in Franksville, Wis., to Ottilia and John Spang. She was the youngest of six children. Eileen graduated from nursing school at Milwaukee County General Hospital in 1939. From 1942 to 1946, she was a nurse anesthetist in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps. While she was stationed in Big Springs, Texas, she took care of an Air Force bombardier, Bill Cain, whom she married in 1946. They had six children between 1947 and 1957. When the youngest of her children entered elementary school, Eileen returned to nursing as an administrator and as a consultant. After moving from San Antonio to the first addition of Lake Oswego in 1993, Eileen joined the Lake Oswego Adult Community Center where she worked on many fundraising projects. She also became a parishioner at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church where she participated in the 49ers. Volunteering, advocacy and charitable giving were necessary and rewarding parts of Eileen's life and she found many occasions to apply her varied interests. Eileen was an adventurer who understood that adventure could be found not only in kayaking in Alaska at the age of 80, but also in a walk around the block. She loved to travel and hear about others' travels. She had a deep appreciation of nature and spent time hiking, gardening and watching the birds visit her feeders. Her abiding faith was the foundation upon which she built a long, productive, happy life. In 2005 Eileen moved to Mary's Woods in Lake Oswego where she lived until her death. At Mary's Woods she enjoyed painting classes, poker, dancing and golfing. She volunteered on the Residents Council and the Health Committee. She was grateful to live in a community of exceptional people who became her friends. Eileen leaves behind many friends and family including her daughters, Candice O'Denver (Robert Feinberg), Colleen Cain (Philip Miller) and Patricia Cain (Rick Johnson); and sons, John Cain (Becky) and Kevin Cain (Kim). Her indomitable spirit will survive in her 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Bill, Eileen was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Cain. Eileen's family would like to thank Dr. Mark McKinstry, the community of Mary's Woods and the staff of the Marie Rose Center for their support and care. A memorial service will be held in February in the chapel at Mary's Woods, Lake Oswego. Eileen's family will gather this summer to spread Bill's and her ashes in Big Elk Meadow near Estes Park, Colo., where the two fell in love. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Lake Oswego Adult Community Center, 505 G St., Lake Oswego, OR 97034; or Mary's Woods Resident Fund, P.O. Box 411, Marylhurst, OR 97036.

    William W. Spang

    CAMBRIDGE - William W. Spang, 72, 201 West Madison Street, formerly of Watertown, passed away at his home on Tuesday, September 26, 2000. He was born in Racine on August 25, 1928, the son of William G. and Ethel (nee: Van Wee) Spang. On October 9, 1965 in Galena, Ill., he was united in marriage to Jeanette (nee: Anderson) Backes*, who preceded him in death. Mr. Spang owned and operated various business's in Wisconsin, including Spang's Retreat and the Nite Cap Motel, both in Watertown, until his retirement. He was a member of St. Pius Catholic Church in Cambridge and a former member of St. Henry Catholic Church in Watertown. He was a member of the United States Marine Corps, serving in the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Watertown V.F.W. Post #3709 and the Watertown American Legion Post #189. He was also a member of the Hotel and Motel Association and the Watertown Area Chamber of Commerce. He is survived by two sons, George (Ellen) of Cambridge and Tim (Vicki) of Jefferson; one daughter, Ethel of Racine; one step-daughter, Denise (Daniel) Kuehl of Hustisford; one step-son, Dennis (Jill) Anderson of Hustisford; six grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; two brothers, John (Sandra) of Winter Park, Fla. and Vanny of Racine; and nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jeanette on December 11, 1999; one son, William; and one daughter, Cynthia. Funeral services will be held at the Hafemeister Funeral Home on Friday evening, September 29, 2000, at 8 p.m. with Rev. Bernard Rott of St. Henry Catholic Church officiating. Burial will be held at East Koshkonong Cemetery in the Town of Christina on Saturday morning at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. William Nolan of St. Pius Catholic Church officiating.     Robert 'Bob' 'Vanny' Spang

    RACINE - Robert 'Bob' 'Vanny' Spang, 70, passed away at Ridgewood Health Care Center on Saturday, April 12, 2003.

    He was born in Franksville on May 15, 1932, to William and Ethel (nee: Van Wie) Spang and had been a resident of the area all of his life. On May 1, 1953, in Springfield, Mo., he was united in marriage to Frances R. Mikulecky.

    Bob served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict from November 26, 1952, until November 25, 1954, and was Honorably Discharged as a Sergeant. He worked for Wisconsin Electric Company as a Troubleshooter for 36 years. During this time, he also owned and operated Kelly's Korner Klub, located at the corners of Blake and Prospect, for 12 years. At his retirement in 1988, he began his employment at Azarian Marina as a Crane Operator for 15 years. Bob was also an avid follower of NASCAR racing and took great pride in his tomato gardening and above all, loved being with his family and loved ones.

    Surviving are his wife, Frances Spang of Racine; loved one, Sally Schneider, also of Racine; his children, Susan (Martin) Eagney, Darryl (Lori) Spang, both of Racine, and Michelle (Rodney) Tweedt of Franksville; five grandchildren, Jessica and Kaylyn Eagney, Alec and future grandchild, and Zachary and Adam Tweedt; and brother, John (Sis) Spang of Winter Park, Fla. He will be greatly missed by his canine friends, Angus and Winston; and his many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Jonna Lynn; two brothers, and his pet dog, Pebbles.

    There will be a Memorial visitation at the Hanson Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 16, 2003, from 4 until 7 p.m. concluding with full Military Honors. In keeping with Bob's wishes, cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family for an education fund for his grandchildren have been suggested by the family.

    The Spang family would like to thank Ridgewood Care Center and staff and St. Luke's Medical Center in Milwaukee and staff for all their efforts and family and friends, who have helped us in such times of needed love and support. Bob will be greatly missed by all.

He was born in Racine on February 25,1954, to William W. and Catherine (nee: Green) Spang Sr. William had been employed at A & J Catrage as a semi-truck driver for 6 years and was currently employed at Advance Waste Service as a semi-truck driver. William enjoyed hunting and fishing and being outdoors. During his younger years he was a jockey. Surviving are his one daughter, from his first marriage, Nicole "Nikki" J. Spang , of Ball State University, Mucnie, Ind. ; parents WIlliam Spang Sr of Watertown Wis., and Catherine Spang of Racine; two brothers and one sister-in-law, George (ellen) Spang of Cambridge, WIs, and Tim Spang of Portland , Ore., one sister Ethel "Louise" Spang of Racine. William is further survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, and other relatives and friends. He was preceeded in death my one sister Cynthia "Cindy" Spang; and a special cousin Robert Spang Jr. Funeral services will be heldon Tuesday, February 21, 1995, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Glenn Graczyk officiating. Visitation will be this evening (TONIGHT) at the funeral home from 6 until 9 p.m. and on Tuesday February 21, 1995 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be at St. Louis Catholic Church Cemetary (Hwy. G) in Caledonia.
