DEXTER,ME & NEWINGTON, CT- Isabelle M. (Sands) Sampson, 89, of Newington, CT, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was the beloved wife of George W. Sampson for 66 years. Born and raised in Dexter, ME, daughter of the late Carl and Julia (Clukey) Sands, she served in the U.S. Navy in World War II and graduated in the Class of 1950 from the University of Maine, where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi, before moving to Newington in 1954.
Isabelle was a member of St. Mary Church, Newington and taught Kindergarten at St. Mary School for 22 years. She was also a member of the Newington Tennis Club and spent time volunteering at the town library.
A loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she leaves her six children, Gail Miller and husband Dennis of Enfield, CT, Carl Sampson and wife Melanie of Enfield, CT, Ralph Sampson and wife Darcey of Newington, CT, Jill Sampson of Vienna, ME, Lynn Martha and husband Jay of Cheshire, CT and Leigh McClain of Newington, CT, twelve grandchildren, Eric Miller and fianc? Kara English, Chris Miller, Katherine Moreau and husband Dave, Danielle Nastri and husband Anthony, Matthew Sampson, Michael Sampson, Conal Sampson, Helena Sampson, Jennifer McCallum and husband Pete, Grace Martha, Sam Martha and Julia McClain, and three great grandchildren, Lily, Evan and Olivia. She also leaves her brother Galen Sands and wife Mary, her two sisters, Ruth Dow and Althea Goulette, sisters-in-law Barbara Clukey, all of Dexter, ME, Shirley Palmer of E. Longmeadow MA and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by brothers, Everett, Merle and Ronnie.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday, June 21, 2013, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 61 Main St., Dexter. Her funeral service will begin on Saturday, at 1 pm at the Funeral Home.
She will be laid to rest in Ferndale Cemetery in Ripley.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Dexter Historical Society, 13 Church St., Dexter, ME 04930.

JULIA C. SANDS
DEXTER - Julia C. Sands, 85, wife of the late Carl Sands, died November 11, 1986, at a local nursing home. She was born October 12, 1901, in Dexter, the daughter of Eddie and Jennie (Clukey) Clukey. She attended Dexter schools and was a communicant of St. Anne's Catholic Church. She was a member of the Dexter Firemen's Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary. She is survived by three daughters, Isabelle Sampson of Newington, Conn., Althea Thombs of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., and Dexter, and Ruth Dow of Dexter; two sons, Ronald F. of Carmel and Galen E. of Dexter; 19 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, several nieces and nephews. Friends called at the Crosby Funeral Home, Main St., Dexter Wednesday. Funeral services were Thursday at St. Anne's Catholic Church, Dexter. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter.
