Ronald L. Thixton, age 75, of Warsaw, passed away Thursday, October 11, 2012, at Cox?s Health Center in Springfield, Missouri. He was born on September 23, 1937, in Jefferson City, Missouri, the son of Roy V. and Esther Forbis Thixton.
He grew up in Jefferson City and attended Halifax grade school graduating from Jefferson City High School and later from Jefferson City Junior College. Ron also attended Lincoln University in Jefferson City.
On March 31, 1968, he was united in marriage to Nancy Gilliland in Phillipsburg, Kansas. They made their home in Clinton, Missouri moving to Warsaw in 1971 where they would raise their children, Chris and Leanne and make their home.
Ron began his career in sales in 1955 working for Capital Supply in Jefferson City until 1992 and then became employed by Ribach Supply in Columbia, Missouri until his retirement in 2006.
Ron was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Warsaw. He also had been a member of the United States Army Reserves. He so enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and patronizing the local eating establishments. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed visiting with his friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy, on August 9, 2000.
He is survived by one son, Christopher R. Thixton, and his wife, Libby of Ozark, Missouri, and a daughter, Leanne Thixton Donaldson, and her husband, Rev. Marc Donaldson, of The Woodlands, Texas, four grandchildren, Sydney, Ryley and Kade Thixton, of Ozark, and Marcus Donaldson, of The Woodlands, Texas, a sister, Beverly Thixton Polly of Jefferson City, Missouri, other relatives and many dear friends.
Funeral services for Ronald Thixton will be at 2:30 P.M., Sunday, October 14, 2012, at the First United Methodist Church of Warsaw with Rev.Marc Donaldson and Rev. Eric Derks officiating. Burial will be in Shawnee Cemetery. Family will receive friends beginning at 1:30 P.M, Sunday prior to services at the church. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church in care of the Reser Funeral Home, P.O. Box 910, Warsaw, MO 65355. Arrangements by Reser Funeral Home, Warsaw.
