- Information on children and grandchildren supplied by Nola Morton (email -1/31/06)
From Nola Morton's information:
'One night in the winter of 1902, Warren, his wife, and son Tom were sleeping and the gas stove became overheated and set fire to the house. The bed was in flames when they awakened. All managed to get to safety outside, but the boy was not with his parents and Warren believed he was still inside. Warren went back to rescue his son and found the child gone and managed to get outside again. He was so terribly burned that, as the story is told, "He left the soles of his feet and the palms of his hands where ever he walked and touched!" He lived only 3-4 days after the fire.'
