      NOBLESVILLE--Paul Herbert Hersberger, 74, Noblesville, passed away Oct. 31, 2004, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis following a brief illness.

      He was born Jan. 14, 1930, in Madison County, the son of Tilghman and Villie (Hinton) Hersberger. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and he retired in 1985 from Delco Remy after 30 years of employment. He continued to farm at Hersberger Farms.

      He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, the Clarksville Masonic Lodge for more than 50 years, the Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis, the Murat Temple Shrine and the Madison County Shrine Club.

      He was an avid antique tractor collector.

      He is survived by wife, Phyllis (Hall) Hersberger; two children, Chris (husband, Keith) Lynch of Anderson and Mori (Patty) Hersberger of Noblesville; three brothers, Jay Hersberger of Lake Placid, Fla., Morris (wife, Jean) Hersberger of Lapel and John (wife, Sue) Hersberger of Ridgeville; one sister, Martha (husband, Max) Lees of Pittsburgh, Pa.; four grandchildren, Josh Lynch, Jordan Lynch, Meghan Hersberger and Joel Hersberger; and several nieces and nephews.

      He was preceded in death by his parents.

      Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with the Rev. Evan Lash officiating. Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery, Lapel.

      Visitation will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
