- "Samuel Albert farmed all his life around Hartford. He owned Hillcrest Farm on the west edge of Hartford. He exhibited farm produce and grains at the Iowa State Fair for many years and was considered top exhibitor with many first prizes on his exhibits. He took an exhibit of farm produce to the Pan-American Exhibition in San Francisco in 1915. He came home with 20 some medals for superior grains. Had top wheat display for the gold medal. All of this was raised on his own farm, Hillcrest.
His greatest pleasure was in fishing the local streams and rivers." (Shetterly History, Myron B. Shetterly, 1980).
